TOKYO, Japan – Megaport, a leading global Network as a Service (NaaS) provider, and BB Backbone Corp. (BB Backbone), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. providing network infrastructure services, today announced the upgrade of Megaport’s backbone network in Tokyo from 100Gbps to 400Gbps.

This upgrade aligns Megaport’s Japanese infrastructure with the 400Gbps port standards already established in North America and Europe, creating a robust foundation to meet the surging demand for high-speed data transmission and cloud connectivity in Japan.

With the spread of AI and the shift to cloud-native environments, network traffic is rapidly increasing on a global scale. Megaport is reinforcing its backbone to promote the introduction of the global trend toward "400Gbps transit" in Japan.

Powered by B³ Spectrum: The network leverages BB Backbone’s "B³ Spectrum," an All-Photonics Network (APN) service. By connecting transmission routes entirely via photonics, the service achieves ultra-low latency and massive capacity connectivity.
