BB Backbone Corp. (“BB Backbone”), and JR WEST OPTICAL NETWORK Corp. (“JRWON”), a provider of optical fiber services in western Japan, today announced to provide "Osaka NANIWA Ring", redundant fiber optic ring connection between major data centers in Osaka City, from January 2023. "Osaka NANIWA Ring", utilizes JRWON’s railroad fiber-optic route and BB Backbone’s depth technical experience of fiber-optic network development. This ring will connect the 3 major data center areas in Osaka City such as Osaka Business Park (location: Kyobashi), Dojima and Sonezaki areas.

“Osaka NANIWA Ring" is a unique and unprecedented service using railroad routes, which can be used as a solution to meet customers' needs to reduce overlaps with existing network routes, enabling the construction of stable, reliable, and fault tolerant network. In addition, within the 3 data center areas, this ring was designed to meet the 100GBASE-LR4 standard for data center connections, which may realize the reduction of equipment cost and equipment fault risk.

Furthermore, "Osaka NANIWA Ring" can connect to the existing optical fiber networks owned by BB Backbone, JRWON, and other fiber-optic partners. It can connect to major data centers in the Osaka areas and other data centers in the Kansai region, Chugoku region, and Kyushu region. Due to the fiber design and fiber fusion methods, many data centers can be connected without the usage of relay stations which can reduce the operation and maintenance cost.

BB Backbone and JRWON will continue to work together to meet the diverse connectivity needs of enterprise and the data center operator needs in Osaka City to provide stable, reliable, and high-quality optical fiber services.
